Organic Gardening in the Greenhouse

september I have finally bought a greenhouse which I have in the back garden. What surprised me was that advice on cultivating plants in the greenhouse seems to ignore normal good husbandry. Commonly there is a lot of practical advice on where and how to site the structure but little on what to do inside. I realised straight away that the tomatoes would be lonely and put their favourite companion in with them. I also put in some pot marigolds.

Pot Marigolds

~ Manure mulch on a raised bed ~ september Pot Marigolds

Here are the pot marigolds. I will plant more next year.

Basil, Italian variety

~ Part rotted manur used as a mulch~ september Good Companions

Basil is not just a good accompaniment to tomatoes in culinary dishes like pasta sauces and pizzas, but they like growing with each other

Napoli tomatoes

~ This end half rotted, far end well rotted manure ~ september Italian Seeds

These are Italian tomatoes grown from seed Mrs Dmp brought back from Napoli. They are the massive ones which are slightly green even when ripe. So far so good.

Sungella

~ Part rotted manur used as a mulch~ september Cherry Tomatoes

When I have grown cherry tomatoes outside they have never managed to reach this size. Lets hope they ripen up without any hitches.
